Last nights league match against our friends from Seaford Town FC was eventually called off 15 minutes before kick off.
After Shorehams’ grounds people spent the last two days prepping, forking, brushing and the club constantly keeping the league and match officials up to date, the game was on. Then an hour before kick off the weather took hold and the rain was constant.
Both teams started their warm up routine while the officials constantly check the pitch for standing water. But eventually the weather won the day and unfortunately the match was called off.
The club would like to say a big thank you to Seaford Town for their approach and understanding to try and get the game played and we can only apologies we could not get the game on. The club would also like say thank you to the match officials for their support and cooperation and waiting as long as they could to try and get the match on.
The club tried its best to get this match played in order to help the fixtures congestion but given this seasons unprecedented weather it was all in vain and yet another league match bites the dust. Both clubs will work together for a new date but for now Shoreham FCs Isthmian U18s travel to Hastings United on Thursday and the first team hop down the road to play local rivals Southwick FC. The club expects both games will be subject to weather conditions.
